Employment Manager

The Employment Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer, ROA and will be responsible for engaging with migrants/refugees and regional communities. Working closely with regional stakeholders, the Employment Manager will identify employment and business opportunities for clients. As the key link between clients and stakeholders, the Employment Manager will support each migrant/refugee through various stages of the journey including onboarding, identifying employment and/or business opportunities in a regional area, relocation to a regional area and providing post-placement support. This is a maximum term contract for 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify employment and small business opportunities in regional areas;
  • Identify and onboard migrants/refugees who would like to settle in regional areas;
  • Maintain ROA’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system;
  • Develop bespoke support plans and implement the same through a “case management model” to get migrant/refugee “ready” for a job or small business opportunity in regional area;
  • Liaise with external support organisations and mentors to ensure that ROA clients receive the desired quality support in timely manner;
  • Organise “regional exploration visits” through bus trips to introduce migrants/refugees to regional areas and the various opportunities;
  • Relocation to regional areas and guiding migrant/refugee obtain the government’s financial support (if eligible) aimed at supporting people moving to regional areas;
  • Guide regional employers to on obtaining various government support (if eligible) to help with attracting skilled labour force to their businesses and organisations;
  • Placement in regional area at an employment or small business opportunity and ensuring that the employer and local community is provided with cultural training to appropriately receive migrant/refugee;
  • Identification and placement of mentors at workplace and community to guide new migrants/refugees in their new life in regional areas;
  • Provision of post-settlement support and monitoring including engaging with mentors and obtaining ongoing information about the settlement of migrants/refugees;
  • Representing ROA at regional forums where appropriate; and
  • Undertaking other program implementation activities to ensure smooth delivery of services.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Community Services Management and / or demonstrated experience in the NFP industry;
  • Experience in developing and delivering resources and programs for a range of stakeholder groups including ethnic minority groups and people from a CALD background;
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in the NFP sector;
  • Strong understanding of local communities as well as the drivers of change;
  • High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to foster effective working relationships;
  • Ability to travel to regional areas, work under limited direction, including experience in planning, prioritising and organising work for self and others to achieve goals and deadlines;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office based computing applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and demonstrated capacity to work independently and within a team environment.

While experience working in Employment Services is valued, experience in customer orientated and results focused environments such as hospitality, retail, recruitment will also be highly regarded.

Proficiency in Arabic, Tamil, Persian or other refugee language groups will also be highly regarded however it is not essential.  You’ll be given the opportunity to challenge yourself, build on your skills, and make a significant contribution to an energetic workplace that’s filled with inspiring and motivated people.
